When in a deeply relaxed state, our minds work to refresh itself. One of the side effects of this is to experience raw and occasionally powerful emotions. This is just your mind working through things and is a perfectly normal part of meditation. However, in the moment it can sometimes be overwhelming and confronting.
Although I would always recommend that you sit with these emotions until the mind has worked through and released them, sometimes we just don’t have the time or the desire to deal with them at that particular moment. Or they may be too confronting for us.
If this is to happen and we simply bring ourselves out of the meditation, this emotional state can stay with us for some time, occasionally for days. The best thing to do while in the meditative state, is to disassociate yourself from the emotions and just observe them. Once you have distanced yourself from actually feeling them, you can either continue with the meditation or bring yourself out of it.
