As we reach the end of the year, for many it is a time to reflect on the past and think about the future. For me personally, this has been a particularly challenging year in many aspects, with many lessons learned along the way. It has been a year that has challenged me to step back into old habits and thinking patterns at every turn. And in these challenges, I have recognised my growth and for the most part, risen above those old patterns.
After speaking with an old friend last night, he told me that I am a completely different person than I was five years ago. That if he hadn’t witnessed the transformation himself, he would never have believed that I was the person I used to be. I didn’t ask but I hope he meant for the better 😀
So how have I changed so dramatically?
With all the stuff I now teach here. The information I give, the courses I run, all share the techniques I use myself every day to become better. If I had to narrow it down to it’s simplest form, everything stems from the language I choose to use. Every unresourceful word in my vocabulary that I replace with a more resourceful one, changes my reality little by little.
I’m not a fan of making New Year resolutions. They never seem to stick. For the last few years, I’ve used a song to represent the year ahead. I know that many people like to have a word that they embody for the year. This year I wanted to come up with a stream of thought to meditate on, so I wrote this.
I leave behind all that I was
Gather around me all that I am
Create all that I will be
Letting go of all but the lessons learned
Shining my light to guide those in shade
I will do better than I did before
I will be better than I was before
And in the now that is everlasting
I will remain present with pure heart
And relentless determination
For it is nothing short than my own reality
That I manifest now!
If these words resonate with you, you could meditate on them too. However, I would suggest that if you like this idea, write your own words to meditate on. Feel free to share them here so that others can be inspired too.
Wishing all of you a safe, fun and an amazingly empowered year ahead.
Love and light to you all
