What is Empowered Meditation Therapy™?
Empowered Meditation Therapy™ or EMT™ is a collection of emotionally therapeutic modalities that use guided meditation as a tool to reach the desired result. Unlike other therapies that use a more direct approach, such as hypnosis and more passive therapies such as psychology and traditional counselling, Empowered Meditation Therapy™ gently guides you through an inner journey of your own emotional mind to unlock and release troubling emotions, resolve inner conflicts and issues, rebalance your state of mind and integrate new resources.
Unlike regular self-induced meditation or guided meditation where you simply follow the instructions of the guide (often pre-recorded), Empowered Meditation Therapy™ creates an interactive feedback loop relationship between the practitioner and the client. The practitioner guides the client into a meditative state and the client shares with the practitioner their internal experience. Based on this, the practitioner then feeds back new guidance to the client, creating a constant experience loop. It is this guiding of the clients own mental constructs that make this such a powerful process for change.

Empowered Meditation Therapy™ is an incredibly powerful yet such a gentle and nurturing approach to therapy.
What to expect in an Empowered Meditation Therapy™ session
Empowered Meditation Therapy™ is conducted through online video chat systems such as Skype, Zoom or Facebook Messenger, making it extremely convenient. You won't have to waste time getting to and from the appointment or worry about finding parking. It can all take place in the comfort of your own home, office or any location where you can sit quietly with a hands-free webcam such as a laptop or mobile device. In-person sessions can be booked if preferred, see the FAQ at the bottom of this page for more information.
Although sessions are generally 45 to 60 minutes long, it is a good idea to allow up to 90 minutes just in case the time is required. It is advised that the client allow up to a day of relatively easy mental activities as some deeper processes can take time to integrate fully.
Stage 1 - The first step in any therapeutic relationship is for the practitioner to discover where you are presently in your emotional state. What is troubling you? What your goals are for the therapy? and if this therapy is the right fit for achieving your desired outcome. This is done by a combination of answering the induction questions below and a 10 minute free Skype call where I can answer any questions and discover the best approach for your unique circumstance.
Stage 2 - I will gauge if you are able to jump straight into meditation or if you require some simple education first. If you have never meditated before, I highly recommend studying my free online educational program “Introduction to Meditation” before booking a session.
Stage 3 - Schedule a time for your Empowered Meditation Therapy™ session
Stage 4 - During the session I will have a deeper discussion about your issue and then guide you through a meditative trance where the change-work takes place.
Stage 5 - I will guide you back to a fully awakened state and test that the desired result has been achieved.
Stage 6 - At the end of the meditation, depending on the process used, it can be important that the session ends and no discussion is had about the process. This is because it can damage the fresh neural pathways that have been created and return them to their previous state before they have a chance to become permanent. The following few hours should be a time for reflection and self-nurturing while these new neural networks integrate fully.
Stage 7 - A time is scheduled for a short follow up session around a week later to check in on how you have integrated the experience and if any future work is required.
Origin of Empowered Meditation Therapy™
After studying hypnosis, it became clear to me that there were many similarities between that and meditation. They both require getting into a trance and they both have a positive effect on the emotional wellbeing of the person taking part. However, there were also some noticeable differences. Hypnosis was very direct, with suggestions and commands given by the hypnotist to help direct the client to the desired result. Whereas meditation was very personal, as the one practising it was in complete control of their inner journey.
Over the years of teaching meditation and seeing clients for hypnosis, I realised that there had to be a middle ground. A way of teaching someone meditation and then guiding them through an internal journey of their own creation as a way to navigate their own emotional state and reach the outcome they desire.
I looked deeper into alternative therapies of the mind and discovered some truly powerful modalities that were in line with my goals. The works of Pip McKay’s Matrix therapies and Mike Mandel’s Mindscaping are incredibly powerful mental tools and yet remain so gentle and nurturing to the client. I also include elements from Richard Bandler and John Grinder’s Neuro-Linguistic Programing, Milton Erickson’s approach to Hypnosis and a lot of mental tools and strategies that I have created from my own experience practising and teaching meditation.
With this powerful toolbox of skills, I am able to help clients over a wide range of issues, sculpting each session for the client's unique requirements.

I am James Cole, the developer and practitioner of Empowered Meditation Therapy™. I have practised meditation since learning at the age of 16 and have used it throughout my life as a tool to empower my own state of mind and help me through the more troubling times of life. In 2015 I studied and became a master practitioner of Life coaching, Matrix Therapies, NLP, Mindscaping and Hypnosis and set up my hypnosis practice where I have helped many clients overcome a varied assortment of challenges. In 2018 I began work on this new modality and continue to help clients with it today.
Is Empowered Meditation Therapy™ for everyone?
As much as I’d like to say a big YES! There are people who cannot be helped with Empowered Meditation Therapy™. Although at times it can seem like it, these therapy tools are not magic. They will not do all the work for you. Emotional, mental and psychological growth takes effort on the client's behalf and there is no way around this simple fact. So there are three criteria a person must meet in order for these processes to work.
- You must first recognise that there is a problem and something has to change. The simple fact that you are reading this page would suggest to this being true. You don’t need to know exactly what the problem is, merely that there is one.
- You must accept responsibility for this problem and know that you are the only one who can do anything about it to make this change happen.
- You know that NOW is the time that this change must take place.
If anyone of these three criteria isn’t met, there’s a good chance the processes will not work for you. This is true with all emotional, psychological and mental change-work. Be honest with yourself about your issue and what your relationship with it is. There is nothing wrong with not meeting these criteria, it may mean that you simply need to sit with your problem a little longer before you are truly ready to move on.

Before you part with any money, we schedule a FREE 10-minute call to determine if this is the right therapy for you.
- Each session is 45-60 minutes depending on what comes up in the session. I ask that you allow up to 90 minutes.
- This price includes a 10 minute follow up phone call one or two weeks after the initial session.
- Payment is to be received 48 hours prior to the scheduled session.
- Cancellations made 48 hours prior to the scheduled session will be fully refunded. Cancellations made within the 48 hours prior to the scheduled session will have 50% refunded.
- There are no refunds if you miss the scheduled appointment without prior notice.
- It is your responsibility to be in a quiet location without any distractions or disturbances for the session.
- It is your responsibility to be in an environment that is safe to meditate and be in a trance state for the session.

It is easy to book an Empowered Meditation Therapy™ session. All you have to do is answer the questions at the bottom of this page. Once you click the button at the bottom of the form, your information will be sent directly to me and you will be taken to a second page where you can schedule a free 10-minute call. This call is to get to know each other a little better, determine if Empowered Meditation Therapy is the best option for you and for any questions you may have to be answered. It is important that both you the client and I the practitioner are comfortable and in agreement with each other to continue.
If at the end of this call we agree that Empowered Meditation Therapy™ is the right choice for you, we schedule our therapy session. After this call, I will email you an invoice. The invoice is required to be paid 24 hours prior to the scheduled session in order to hold this time. Upon payment, you will receive an email with the simple instructions required for the session to take place. This includes instructions such as where to download the required software such as Zoom or Skype, and how to install it (if you don’t already have it), how to log into the session, what to expect within the session and what to do after the session.
Because all sessions are conducted online over Zoom or Skype, you will require a computer with a stable internet connection and a webcam, or a device that can video chat while being hands-free. It is a requirement that I can see you clearly throughout the session to gauge your progress and take visual cues to provide the right guidance at the right time.
It is also important that you are in a quiet setting where you can sit comfortably and will not be distracted or disturbed for the duration of the session.

Yes. However, because there are more overheads such as travel and room rental, prices are more expensive. These sessions can be worked out on an individual basis and would normally take place in the Frankston, Australia area.
It is commonplace in a therapy environment to have ongoing sessions, often with no end-date in sight. With Empowered Meditation Therapy™ I work very differently. The majority of issues can be dealt with in a single session.
Some deeper issues may take a second session, and occasionally a new level of understanding may uncover a need for another session.
You are never locked in and there are no contracts to bind you. This is your journey of healing and you can take it as far or as short as you like.
Emotions are there for a reason. To help us process information and act accordingly. If we are in danger, it is good to feel fear so that we become hyper-focused on getting ourselves out of danger. If we lose a close friend or family member it is grief and sadness that allows us to recognise that loss, and over time, release the energy surrounding it. Even anger has its place. Life is simply not meant to be 24/7 happiness, in spite of what modern culture teaches us.
These emotions, however, can become an issue when they stick around longer than required and end up disrupting our lives in a negative fashion.
Sometimes this can be simply that we have never been taught the life skills to deal with strong emotions. Other times it can be the result of extremely deep emotions caused by a traumatic experience.
Empowered Meditation Therapy™ can guide us through an internal experience that will help to resolve and release any emotions that have become disruptive and outstayed their welcome.
A third reason for emotional issues can be our diet or lifestyle. Certain foods, drugs, and lack of sleep can trigger all kinds of chemical imbalances that cause our emotions to run havoc. Unfortunately, Empowered Meditation Therapy™ cannot help with this directly, however, it can help in creating changes in lifestyle that will result in better internal health and wellbeing.
When a person goes through a traumatic experience, the body is flushed with all kinds of stress-related chemicals or hormones to heighten the experience to the extreme. The reason for this is a fight or flight response to get us hyper-focused on getting out of the situation as quickly as possible. Because it is such an intensely heightened experience, the emotions felt in the moment can become mentally anchored to specific things that are going on at the time.
For example, if you are in a car accident and a specific song is playing on the radio, all of those extreme emotions may get anchored, or linked, to that song. When the song is heard sometimes years later, the emotions can come flooding back as if the event just happened. What’s worse is that sometimes these anchors can be so subtle that we just aren’t aware of what is causing these emotions of trauma to be triggered.
Empowered Meditation Therapy™ can help to break the link between the emotions felt and that which is triggering them even if the trigger is unknown. Because the process works on an unconscious level, it goes straight to the source rather than trying to decipher everything through conscious awareness.
Emotional attachments are emotions that are connected to a specific person or event. Like with other emotional issues, attachments only become a problem when they are disruptive to a desired life.
Empowered Meditation Therapy™ can help to cut the cords that bond these attachments to us by resolving any emotional issues between the person or event and our unconscious mind.
Modality in the context of this page refers to a type of therapeutic method. Hypnosis, Psychology, Reiki, Naturopathy, Massage, Kinesiology and now Empowered Meditation Therapy™ are all different modalities for treating people.
This is possibly one of the biggest concerns with any kind of internet therapy. Because of the nature of Empowered Meditation Therapy™, you will not be left hanging in a hypnotic trance or a deeply emotional state. If the connection drops out, we simply re-establish the connection and continue from where we left off.
If for some reason that is just not possible at the time, we can reschedule and continue or start over then.
The process is so gentle and nurturing that you can stop at any time with no negative side effects.
Sessions are only recorded if you request and agree to this at the start of a session. Any recordings made, can be shared with you via dropbox as a video or audio recording.
Recordings will always remain absolutely confidential unless both parties agree to and sign a release form allowing the recording to be used for public training and promotional purposes.
