What is NLP?
Neuro-Linguistic Programming
NLP which stands for Neuro-Linguistic Programming describes the fundamental dynamics between mind (neuro) and language (linguistic) and how they affect our body and behaviour (programming). It was developed by John Grinder and Richard Bandler as a school of thought that addresses the many levels of being human and is founded on two fundamental principles:
- The Map is Not the Territory. Meaning that we as individuals can only know our own perceptions of reality and never know reality as a whole. It is our ‘neuro-linguistic’ maps of reality that determine how we behave and give the Universe meaning. It is an understanding that it is not reality that limits us or empowers us, but rather our map of reality.
- Life and ‘Mind’ are Systemic Processes. Our bodies, societies and our Universe form an ecology of complex systems and sub-systems that all interact with and influence each other. It is not possible to completely isolate any part of the system from the rest of the system. Such systems are based on certain self-organising principles and naturally seek optimal states of equilibrium.
All of the models and techniques of NLP are based on the combination of these two principles. Since its inception in 1975, NLP has evolved considerably and developed some very powerful tools and skills for communication and change.
NLP is incorporated into and used throughout the Empowering Meditations products and services. This includes Empowered Meditation Therapy™ which is used to help people overcome many types of emotional and psychological conditions.
James Cole is a fully certified Master Practitioner of NLP and combines it with Matrix Therapies®, Mindscaping, Hypnosis, and other techniques to deliver Empowered Meditation Therapy™ as a powerful set of tools to help clients embrace their own power and free them of emotional attachments.
